Japanese Culture Day
Japanese Culture Day is only days away and for those of you that don’t know, Shachihata is a Japanese company. Better yet, it is a Japanese company that produces art products. This means that 3rd November is a very exciting day for us as we celebrate all things Japanese art and culture.
How can you join in?
We want to share with you some of the art and craft ideas that we will be taking part in so that you can join in on the celebrations too.
First on our list is origami, the traditional art of paper folding that has evolved into a modern art form in Japan. The end goal being a finished sculpture from the technical folding of a flat sheet of paper. We have put together step-by-step guides for 3 different designs for you to get involved with. Simply head to the downloadable page on 3rd November to get started.
Next on the list is a look at art history. Get inspired by some of the great artists of Japan by putting your own spin on some of the most famous art works like these people have:
This piece gives a nod to Fujishima Takeji’s – Sunrise over the Eastern Sea with the Impressionist style.
This Pop Art take on Katsushika Hokusai’s – The Great Wave off Kanagawa gives it a whole new feel.
This well-known style can be especially traced back to Kitagawa Utamaro’s art work. you pay homage to? Yayoi Kusama? Takashi Murakami? Hiroshi Yoshida? Grab your Artline Markers and get drawing.
